PILOT TRAINING

Commercial Pilot License (CPL).

A CPL allows you to fly as a pilot for your job, and get paid.

What is required ?

  • 105 hours of flight time
  • Class 1 Medical examination
  • Aviation Security Identification Card
  • English Language Proficiency test
  • Commercial Pilot Flight Test
  • 7 Theory Exams – each exam requires a 70% pass mark; Air Law requires a 75% pass mark, you have 2 years to pass all theory exams, otherwise they expire.
  • (Human Factors, General Aircraft knowledge, Aerodynamics, Meteorology, Navigation, Air Law, Operations Performance and Planning)



What Cost?

This is dependent on a few factors, for example, weight range, which helicopter is being used for training (R22 or R44), and whether you require a little more training in some areas etc. Generally speaking, you can expect the cost to be close to $85,000.

Private Pilot License (PPL).

A PPL allows you to fly as a pilot recreationally; you can fly yourself and others, but you cannot get paid to do it. You can share the cost of the helicopter hire equally among yourselves.


What is required?

  • 40 hours flight time
  • Class 2 or 5 medical examination
  • Aviation Security Identification Card 
  • English Language proficiency test
  • Private Pilot Flight Test
  • One Theory Exam with 7 subjects 70% pass mark
  • (Human Factors, General Aircraft knowledge, Aerodynamics, Meteorology, Navigation, Air Law, Operations Performance and Planning)
